This program trains healthcare professionals to help individuals develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills following injury, illness, or disability. Students learn therapeutic techniques, activity analysis, adaptive equipment, physical rehabilitation, mental health interventions, pediatric therapy, geriatric care, and assistive technology. The course combines medical knowledge with creative problem-solving to enable clients to achieve independence and improved quality of life through meaningful activities.
Physiotherapy focuses on movement and physical function, while occupational therapy focuses on enabling people to perform meaningful daily activities and participate fully in life.
Clients include children with developmental delays, stroke survivors, people with mental health conditions, injury victims, elderly persons, and anyone needing help with daily activities.
The work involves some physical activity like assisting clients with movements and demonstrating exercises, but it’s not as physically intensive as nursing.
After the diploma, you can pursue specializations through further education and experience in areas like pediatrics, mental health, or hand therapy.
